Mac Software Update Unexpected Error






I was having the exact same problem, imac running 10.6.8, software update shows updates but gives the "unexpected error" while updating. mine started with a printer update (canon, which was the only update at the time) so i figured it was just a bad update and didn't think much of it.. I am having some trouble updating my mac pro. it is almost two months now since i updated my mac pro. it seems that all the updates needed are downloaded already, however, when i start to install them. “unexpected error” boot your macpro in safe mood and try to run software update from there. press shift key down at startup. to go. Install mac os onto the external drive or use disk utility to restore your working mac os boot partition to your external drive. restart and boot into your external drive. from here you should be able to run and apply the firmware update..

Just an update on my situation, i was the person with the garmin 1350lmt and in my first try for updating the maps, the map updating utility had completed steps 1 and 2 (downloading the new map updates, preparing the new map updates to install) and then the program quit as it started step 3 (installing the map updates).. When software update says that your mac is up to date, macos and all of its apps are also up to date. that includes safari , i tunes , books, messages, mail, calendar, photos, and facetime. to automatically install macos updates in the future, including apps downloaded from the app store, select ”automatically keep my mac up to date.”.
